Project Associate Christina Brinker is an education specialist with over ten years of experience teaching students in an outdoor environment as well as a traditional science classroom. She specializes in facilitating exciting, current and hands-on classroom presentations that are immediatley applicable to her audience. She cares about connecting with each individual and prides herself on asking thoughtful, well placed questions; allowing a student to realize the effects their lifestyle decisions can have for themself, the community and the environment.
Due to the unique nature of working for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), Christina is practiced in effectively using ”teachable moments” that can make a lesson immediately relevant. Additonally, her NOLS work has given her the oppurtunity to teach to a wide range of diverse cultures, ages, and education levels in a variety of settings and countries. Teaching in a traditional classroom has given Christina the chance to further her experience with curriculum development and to work with school adminitsrators as well as other educators. With the help of her students, she worked with the school principal, administrators, and custodians to implement a more effective recycling program, helping to increase environmental awareness on campus and the surrounding community.
In her free time, Christina enjoys traveling, hiking, practicing yoga but most of all spending time with her husband Chad, son Caleb, and daughter Quinn.
