Public Involvement

Expert in an array of skills and techniques developed through decades of public involvement in the Pacific Northwest, Triangle crafts a tailored approach that meets the unique needs of each client. Our experience has shown that public information and involvement at the outset of projects, with opportunities for continued participation at key points in the process, significantly improve the quality of the final product as well as overall public acceptance and legal defensibility.

Triangle public involvement services include:

  • Public Involvement Plans: We research community interests, conduct stakeholder interviews, identify key audiences, and provide recommendations on process and products.
  • Stakeholder Interviews: We interview key agency officials, electeds, and citizens to identify important issues and preferred methods of involvement.
  • Stakeholder Group Convening: When appropriate, we convene citizen advisory boards and sounding boards to provide informed input on a regular basis.
  • Meeting Facilitation: We provide expert, neutral facilitation for public meetings, stakeholder groups, and technical workshops.

  • Meeting Planning: We help to develop and define meeting goals and activities, and we manage meeting logistics.
  • Strategic Guidance: We help develop evaluation criteria for capital projects, funding plans, and communication strategies, and advise on an array of policy issues.
  • Media Materials: We create well-designed, clearly written materials, including newsletters, post cards, media releases, newspaper ads, and FAQ sheets, that inform and encourage participation.
  • Web Sites: We develop user-friendly web sites as project information clearinghouses and forums for questions and comments.

Triangle's services ensure an effective two-way flow of communication between the client and those who care about the project or program. To demonstrate accountability to the public, we typically prepare a report of how public input was used in the decision-making process and the final decision.
