This spring, the Triangle team is thrilled to be working with King County to create a brand new river safety education program for first and second graders. This interactive river safety education program teaches students how to stay safe around Washington rivers. Through visuals, song, and movement, Georgie the River Guide and her River Otter friend Marta teach students that rivers have dangers that we can and cannot see.
Students help create a river safety checklist and learn how to activate their river safety-smarts. Every student practices trying on a lifejacket and takes home a copy of the river safety pledge to share with their families. By the end of June, over 700 students will have participated in this program and learned valuable steps for staying safe near Washington rivers this summer.
