Public Involvement at Contaminated “Superfund” Cleanup Sites

SERVICE AREA: Public Involvement

Overview

Triangle helps the US Environmental Protection Agency involve community members as it cleans up some of the most contaminated sites in America (“Superfund sites”).

Project Description

The US Environmental Protection Agency’s “Superfund Program” is responsible for cleaning up some of the most contaminated places in the US. EPA has hired Triangle on a number of occasions to help inform and involve community members throughout Superfund cleanup processes. EPA hired Triangle to conduct community and agency interviews to help update the Community Involvement Plan for the Lower Duwamish Waterway Superfund Site. EPA also hired Triangle to organize public meetings for the Portland Harbor Superfund Site. For both these sites, Triangle was sensitive to environmental justice concerns and worked to make outreach inclusive and accessible for all community members.
