Amanda Lester
Education and Outreach Specialist

Amanda joined the Triangle team as an Education and Outreach Specialist. Her work focuses on classroom workshops for K-12 students and community outreach and engagement. During her time as an undergraduate student at Seattle Pacific University, she became passionate about equitable access to education and outdoor recreation, which was the catalyst for her pursuit of a career in environmental education.
After graduating, Amanda found herself in various outdoor education roles, from organizing field trips and summer camps with Friends of North Creek Forest to leading outdoor skills classes as a day guide with REI. Before starting with Triangle, she worked for Islandwood on the Urban Schools Program team. This was a dynamic role that included teaching elementary school students about salmon at our local Carkeek Park, partnering with KC Wastewater Treatment Division guiding tours through the facilities, and engaging students in hands-on activities regarding the impacts of stormwater. Participating in a cohort with Justice Outside’s Educators Institute strongly impacted Amanda’s approach to culturally informed education and leading in outdoor spaces – she is excited to continue that growth.
Outside of work, Amanda can be found at the local farmer’s market, reading a book outside, or competitively playing a card/board game with friends.
