Jennifer Scales
Senior Associate

Jennifer Scales joined the Triangle education team in 2019 with over 12 years of experience in environmental education, program and content development, and program management. She has extensive experience working for and with local and state government agencies, corporations, and non-profits, with a focus on natural resource conservation, hazardous waste management, solid waste management, and litter prevention. Her expertise is in developing and delivering engaging programs for secondary youth and adult audiences, including those with limited English proficiency. She is an enthusiastic educator and has worked in both formal and informal education settings.
Jennifer emphasizes the importance of fostering understanding, believing that to inspire, you must first spark interest, curiosity, and passion. She has a deep understanding of how to elevate client messaging in an accessible and relevant way for the intended audiences and evaluates programs and client needs to facilitate successful project outcomes. Jennifer understands the interests and needs of different audiences and her experience creating culturally competent materials and programs centers on accessibility and engagement.
Jennifer holds a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Environmental Studies. Her work history includes program management for government agencies like the City of Charleston, King County, Seattle Public Utilities, the City of Auburn, the City of Bellevue, South Carolina’s 4-H Youth Development, and more. Her work with the private sector and NGOs includes programs and support for WM, Republic Services, the World Wildlife Fund, and the Gates Foundation Discovery Center. Throughout her career, she has emphasized the importance of partnership and collaboration, believing that we can offer the best of ourselves and our programs when we bring people and resources together.
Jennifer spends most of her free time outside at the barn, exploring local parks and beaches, or playing strategy board games.
